 We haven’t invented a silver bullet against ticks but we do provide you with an alternative that is free of chemicals, which has proven to help in the case of the largest number of our customers‘ dogs! 
 Due to the large number of inquiries and the fact that we have tested the effectiveness of our dog necklaces successfully against tick bites on our own dog, we decided to open up this online shop for cats and dogs. Our human customers will find a wide variety of amber and amber jewelry as usual in our store at www.bernsteinfee.de a large variety of amber and amber jewelry.  
After the necklaces have been tested by the Katzenhotel Miau (hotel for cats) in Muggendorf for a long time, we now offer a necklace as tick protection for cats.

In our store you will find a collection of amber necklaces as tick bite protection for your dog and cat, but also jewelry for your dog in many colors and sizes. 
First of all, let us inform you, how it is possible for a "stone" to keep ticks off of your dog. Amber contains natural essential oils The resinous smell of the amber, which derives from the friction of the amber with the pets fur, and which ticks do not like are responsible for the tick feeling uncomfortable. Amber has an electrical resistance and an electrostatic charge through friction with the fur of the animal. This static electricity keeps away the small beasts from your dog.   
This static electricity was discovered by the ancient Greeks (Greek: electron=amber). 
By the way, ticks can smell! They do not have a nose like ours but they do have a so-called Haller-organ located on its front legs. This organ helps the tick to perceive the smell of a potential victim.   
It is important that you always use an amber necklace/tick protection collar that is neither sanded nor polished because such treatment leads to the rather rough and permeable surface of the amber closing up and thus no smells are released onto the fur. 
The longer your dog wears the amber, the better the smell can distribute in its fur and the better the tick bite prevention.  We ourselves lived in an area which is completely conquered by ticks, near Pottenstein, in the beautiful landscape of Swiss Franconia in , and have been testing our necklaces since April 2007 on our own dog. Our dog "Lady" had only 3 ticks during this time and this was in the beginning period, where the smell was not completely distributed in the fur. A couple of weeks ago we found one more tick. Apart from this, our Lady has been completely tick-free. Furthermore the jewelry simply looks fantastic on every dog. 
If you are not a friend of chemical treatment of pets, give this alternative a try, you will be astonished like we were and your dog or cat will be grateful. 
From our point of view there is no tick protection, whether chemical or natural, that works at a 100% and this is also a fact about our amber necklaces. The large majority of approx. 95% of our customers are very satisfied, but we would like to be fair and not withhold this information from you.
